TRC20 and TRON addresses

How TRC20 tokens relate to TRON addresses when screening a counterparty before sending USDT or other TRC20 assets.

Same address space for TRX and TRC20

TRC20 tokens sit on the same Base58 accounts as TRX. Screening the account still matters before you send USDT or other TRC20 assets — the receive address is the same shape.

Contract address vs wallet address

Do not send USDT to a token contract. Counterparty receive addresses start with T and behave like wallets. Contract interactions are a different flow; when someone asks you to “pay USDT here,” they almost always mean a wallet address you should screen.

Network selection for USDT

USDT exists on multiple chains. Confirm TRC20 / TRON in the sending wallet every time. A correct TRON address on the wrong network selection still loses funds.

How this ties to TRON Address Checker

Use the checker to screen the T-address, then confirm TRC20 in your wallet. See also our before-USDT and TRX/USDT guides for transfer-specific checklists.

FAQ

Is a TRC20 address different from a TRON wallet address?

Receive wallets share the same T-address format. Do not send USDT to a token contract address by mistake.
